FUSION RACK MOUNT

CL2526/CL2527/CL2528 (PDF)

Abstract

The Celco Fusion Rackmount dimmer is a twelve channel 19" rack mounting entertainment dimmer having a channel load of 10A, 16A or 20A. Principle features include an intuative user interface, the ability to dim resistive, inductive and capacitive loads, user configurable mains outlets. Control is by DMX512 with full cross patch or 0-10V analog.

Applications

The Fusion Rackmount is suitable for inclusion in specifications for Touring Rock and Roll, Television, Theatre, Conference, Multi-Purpose, Cruise Liners, Performing Arts.

Engineers’ and Architects’ Specification

The dimmer shall include, but not be limited to the following components. A folded 12 gauge aluminium chassis, with seperate safety compartments for power circuitry, control circuitry, control connections and power connections; A removable rear panel to accept user installed connectors; A master control unit comprising of 17 backlit elastomeric buttons and a 2 line backlit LCD display; 12 din-rail mounted type K 9KAbreakers; 3 control fuses.

Each of the twelve dimmer outlets shall be protected against over current by a single pole 10A (16A, 20A dependant of variant) miniature circuit breaker, channels outputs shall be connected via DIN rail mounting terminals. Dimming shall be by two thyristors which shall be rated at no less than 55A continuous load per half cycle, each thyristor shall be under the direct control of a microprocessor. Lightweight, magnetically ‘soft’ chokes shall be employed to reduce lamp noise.

The dimmer output shall be compensated such that a supply voltage variation of 10% will cause no more than a 3% change in the output voltage. Each of the dimmer channels shall be independently configurable to any one of seven internal dimmer curves to cater for variety of load types. These shall be Non-dim, Linear, Square Law, S Law, Flourescent. The dimmer shall control the following load types, Tungsten, Inductive, Neon, Flourescent, Series Resonant Flourescent (Non-dim), Switched effects (Non-dim).

The dimmer shall accept control inputs from USITT DMX512(1990) with a full cross patch facility or 0 - 10VDC Analog. When receiving DMX the user interface shall indicate when a valid message is received. In the event of ‘bad’ DMX data being received the dimmer shall output either, the last valid level or, a preprogrammed level, depending on the setting of the standby function.

The dimmer output shall respond within 20mS to the absolute level directed by any of the control inputs. The dimmer shall have local control facility that can set any channel to a direct level. A single scene shall be stored in flash eprom and output when power is applied to the dimmer, the scene should fade in at power on in no less than 2 seconds for surge prevention. The dimmer shall operate on a mains supply of either 180-250VAC and 90-130VAC as an option. The dimmer shall operate on either single or three phase supplies. The dimmer shall operate on a mains frequency of 45-65 hertz and shall use a mains frequency servo to track small changes in the frequency of the mains, frequencies above 400Hz shall be filtered. The maximum power consumption of the dimmer with no loads attached shall not exceed 18W.

The dimmer shall operate continuously at full rated load in ambient temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius and shall be fan cooled. The temperature of the output device heatsink shall be measured and fed back to the control electronics. A slight over temperature of the heatsink shall be indicated on the user interface and shall cause the output to be limited until the temperature falls. In the event of an excessively high heatsink temperature being indicated the dimmer output shall switch off and shall only be re-enabled by first powering off, and then on. The control electronics shall be protected against an over temperature by a resettable fuse on the power transformer.
